Garages / Carports FAQ
What is the difference between a timber garage and a carport?
A timber garage is a fully enclosed structure with doors, providing maximum security and protection from all weather conditions. A carport is an open-sided structure that offers quick access and protection from rain and frost while ensuring excellent natural ventilation for your vehicle.
Is a wooden garage better for my car than a metal one?
Yes, timber is a natural insulator that helps regulate temperature and significantly reduces condensation. Unlike metal garages, which can trap moisture and promote rust, a Timber Lodge 365 wooden garage keeps your vehicle in a dry, breathable environment.
Do I need a concrete base for a garage or carport?
Because of the weight of the vehicles, a reinforced concrete slab is the highly recommended foundation for any garage. For carports, concrete pads for the supporting posts may be sufficient, but a full solid surface is always best for long-term stability.
Are the garage doors included in the kit?
Most of our garage kits include heavy-duty timber barn-style doors as standard. However, we also offer models designed to accommodate modern up-and-over or sectional doors if you prefer an automated entry system.
Can a timber garage be used as a workshop?
Absolutely. Many of our customers choose a larger garage model to combine vehicle storage with a dedicated workshop area. The thick timber walls provide a sturdy surface for mounting tool racks and offer natural sound insulation for DIY projects.
